Run for Life and Research

“As a doctor I see thousands of patients with pain who suffer from many different disorders, but by far the worst disease to treat is the one there is no cure. Worse yet, is so debilitating one wishes for death to come swiftly. It is difficult for me to see anyone suffer. My goal as a doctor is and has always been to help my patients, but I am only one person. I suddenly realized that there must be something else I could do. I started to search. Simultaneously, I also wanted to do something to give back to society, to an organization that would take what I can give and use it to better the lives of the same sick people I treat and even through research prevent their diseases. Suddenly it came to me via a mailer, Team In Training! My first thought was there was strength in numbers. I was no longer just one person but part of the largest fundraising organization in America. Before you knew it I have committed myself to running a full marathon (26.3 miles). (I have never even run a 5k) and fundraising more money than I have done before. Both made me accountable to a promise I made to myself to give back and to do more than just talk about it.”
